Bible Truth Restored

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.           1 Peter 4:11

Bulletin - Dated 11th May 2014

I was sharing with a christian brother last year about our plans for the ministry. God quickened us to a scripture in John 15:

John 15:5:  I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

In the original Greek text, the word translated "abide" just means "to stay". If we "stay" with Jesus - not wandering to the right or left; not moving away from his direction and presence, we will be fruitful.
The picture is of course being part of the vine which represents Jesus. A vine branch cannot bear fruit if it is separate from the growing vine which supplies the life and nutrients for the fruit to be produced.

We were encouraged to continue to look to Jesus for the fruitfulness of the ministry. Last Friday night we were again reminding ourselves of that scripture and the promise it carries of spiritual fruitfulness. After we finished our conversation, I got into my vehicle to drive home, turned on the radio which is set for a christian station, and the speaker was reading John 15 v 5!

Young christians often ask: "How does God speak to me?". This is one way in which God speaks to us - in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses - by such confirmation of his word. God wants us to be reminded of this promise in John 15 v 5 so worked in circumstances to confirm it in this miraculous way.

Let us not be like those whom Elihu refers to in Job 33. God speaks to them in more than one way, but they do not regard it.

Job 33:14  For in one way God may speak, and in a second, but one does not regard it.
Job 33:15  In a dream, a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men; while they slumber on the bed.

Let us be like the sheep in John 10 who know the voice of the Shepherd and listen and follow his direction.
