Bible Truth Restored

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.           1 Peter 4:11

It is true in our human nature that we will often only expend as much effort as we estimate necessary according to the value of the reward.

A worker who deems themselves to be at the bottom of the heap will often resent that and figure that they don't need to therefore work as hard as the person getting 3 times their wages.

So as a christian worker - as the servant / slave of the Lord, how do we estimate things? Do we truly value the calling that our Lord and Master has put on us. There are billions of people in the world who have not been given the knowledge, truth and salvation that we have.

We are in the privileged minority, no matter what we may think of our standing in the world's eyes.

Jesus taught that:

Mat 13:45  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Mat 13:46  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Would we / have we been prepared to sell ALL that we have to own the pearl of great price - the entry to the Kingdom of God.

Paul said:
Php 3:12  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I am pressing on, if I may lay hold of that for which I also was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13  My brothers, I do not count myself to have taken possession, but one thing I do, forgetting the things behind and reaching forward to the things before,
Php 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Php 3:15  Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be of this mind.

May we appreciate the high calling, and the eternal value of the prize we may obtain if we remain faithful and are not a slothful servant. And may we show the Lord that we do appreciate it through our Holy lifestyle.
