Bible Truth Restored

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.           1 Peter 4:11

Contagious diseases are caused by microbes or viruses which cannot be seen by ordinary vision. Likewise, it is the unseen faults, the secret sins that kill. So, the psalmist pleads, “Cleanse me from secret faults.” The Scribes and Pharisees were righteous in their own eyes, yet they had “omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy and faith.” “You make clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but within they are full of extortion and excess ... Cleanse first that which is within the cup and plate that the outside of them may be clean also.”
Disease can be very contagious and the only preventative is to disinfect the area and isolate the patient. Can we learn from these facts why the Master warned “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees?” Bad attitudes and undermining can be more dangerous than disease - dangerous because they can become contagious, and may be fatal to those who are not spiritually healthy to resist following them.

Spiritual sickness is to be expected in this mortal life. In the medical profession all doctors are under oath to preserve life as long as is humanly possible. A serious operation may be fatal to the patient but it is performed with the hope it may save a life. The compassion of God was shown in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah when the angel said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”
